Artistic Directors/Curators – Midtown International Theatre Festival
DO YOU LIKE GOING TO THE THEATRE? A LOT?
The Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF), now in its 13th year, is seeking individuals to recruit and curate shows for its annual theatrical showcase, held in Midtown Manhattan every July.
Individuals chosen must be willing to go to lots and lots of New York theatre (at no personal expense), especially Off-Off-Broadway, and hand out lots of business cards. Not required, though encouraged, is attendance at monthly status meetings for consumption of cheeseburgers (or healthier meals of equivalent value, on the company tab), to compare notes with other artistic directors and the MITF executive producer. Expected is that the artistic director will develop a network of artistic connections that will convert into participation in the Festival.
As a get-acquainted measure, newly minted artistic directors are invited to act as judges in this year’s Festival (July 16 – Aug. 5), a job that involves seeing as many of some 40 shows as possible and taking part in an awards ceremony in September. For more details, see the Festival Web site at www.midtownFestival.org.
