DIRECTOR OF PERFORMING ARTS

WHO: Trinity School 

SEEKING: Trinity School, a co‐educational, K‐12 institution located on the Upper West Side of Manhattanseeks a Director of Performing Arts, beginning in September 2012.

RESPONSIBILITIES: In brief, the Director of Performing Arts is responsible for (1) oversight of curricular and extracurricularperforming arts programs, from kindergarten through twelfth grade; (2) oversight ofperforming arts teachers’ teaching and professional growth; (3) coordination of the performingarts calendar and programs with other programs within the school; (4) communication about andpromotion of the program, both formal and informal, with various individuals and groups withinthe school and beyond; (6) supervision of departmental curriculum, staffing, scheduling, budget,and other departmental policies and procedures; (7) collaboration with Principals, Associate Head,and Head of School in hiring and mentoring new teachers within the department. The Director ofPerforming Arts serves as a member of the School’s Senior Administration and reports to the Headof School. The Director also teaches between ten and fifteen periods a week.

REQUIREMENTS: The school seeks candidates who have demonstrated excellence as teachers and educationalleaders, who continue to practice the arts they teach, who are eager to advocate for the arts asintegral to Trinity’s mission, and who will support a multi‐faceted educational program designed toaddress the needs of the “whole person.”
