Situated under A.C.T.’s newly created education department, the publications department is at the intersection of the theater’s artistic, marketing, and outreach endeavors, making it the perfect seat from which to learn about one the country’s premiere nonprofit theaters.
The dramaturgical publications fellow will assist the publications manager with A.C.T.’s exciting dramaturgical and institutional publications. Performing administrative and editorial tasks is a significant part of the fellowship (including copying, transcribing, fact checking, collecting and managing artist bios), but primary duties will include researching, writing, and editing articles for Words on Plays, a dramaturgical magazine published for each mainstage show. The publications fellow should love language, writing, and editing; be responsible and detail-oriented; and work well with a variety of creative people at all levels of the organization and in a busy, deadline-oriented atmosphere. Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills are essential. Interest in and experience with dramatic literature and theater production is, naturally, a plus—as is a background in publishing and design and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign).
The fellowship is a full-time, season-long position. A modest weekly stipend is provided. A writing sample of no more than 1,500 words should be submitted with the application.
