Fall Interns – Davenport Theatrical Enterprises

Davenport Theatrical Enterprises is seeking interns in several departments for the Fall season (for descriptions, see below). Interns must be available from Late August/early September through December. You must be willing to commit to at least 20 hours a week (weekdays and weekends are available), however, preference is given to those candidates who can commit to full-time internships. A stipend is paid upon successful completion of the Internship program.

Executive Intern
The Executive Intern serves as a second assistant to Ken Davenport. Duties include answering phones, filing, database management, copyediting, scheduling, and general office upkeep. The Executive intern must have strong communication skills and be knowledgeable about theatre. Opportunities are available to assist at readings, seminars, and other events. The Executive Intern also assists in the management of Davenport Studio, Davenport Theatrical’s new rehearsal studio. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel is a must and HTML is a plus.
Positions available: One full-time and one weekend.

Finance Intern
The Finance Intern assists in the day-to-day financial operations of Davenport Theatrical and any other projects as they arise, such as reviewing/proofreading contracts and other documents, data entry, etc. The right candidate also has the opportunity to work on projects with the entire Davenport Theatrical team. He or she must also be willing to attend to the regular intern duties such as filing and taking notes during office meetings. Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Excel. Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
Positions available: One part-time.

Marketing Intern
The Marketing Intern facilitates audience outreach research and communication to promote Davenport Theatrical’s current productions. The intern does outreach to various demographic groups via email, phone, and in person to promote the company’s various projects. The position also includes contacting different venues and facilities for event planning. The internship requires extensive knowledge of Excel and Internet research capabilities and strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Positions available: One full-time and one part-time.

General Management Intern
The General Management Intern assists in both General and Company Management. Duties include filing, running reports, house seat requests, and shadowing the company manager at shows. Throughout the internship, the intern will get an overview of Ovation and Telecharge ticketing systems. The ideal candidate is interested in a career in company or general management, and is proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Positions available: One part time. Some weekend and evening availability preferred.

Online Marketing Intern
The Online Marketing Intern helps promote our Broadway and Off-Broadway shows using the internet. You will gain experience in social media, email marketing, and online advertising. Candidates must be proficient with technology and active on Facebook and Twitter. Individuals with MySpace profiles need not apply.
Positions available: One part-time or full-time.

Creative Development Intern
The Creative Development Intern reads scripts and sees readings on behalf of the producer and reports to the Director of Creative Development through written feedback coverage. Other duties include researching venues and shows, seeking out marketing opportunities for creative development services, and assisting with our Developmental Reading Series, writer networking events and classes, and in-house developmental projects. The Creative Development intern also assists the front desk of the Davenport Studios, taking reservations, booking tracking, and general studio assistance. Applicants should have a background in writing and theatrical critique, interest or knowledge in current shows/writers, and strong communication skills.
Positions available: Full-time or part time positions — flexible hours including evening and weekends.

Intern to the Creative Director
The Intern to the Creative Director works alongside the department of Internet Marketing. He or she will produce site updates and new content for DidHeLikeIt.com, BestOfOffBroadway.com, and more. This includes the creation and publication of articles and features, evaluation of Broadway and Off-Broadway reviews, and execution of site contests. This Intern also aids in the editing and designing of new show materials and graphics. Basic knowledge of Photoshop and HTML a plus. Solid editing skills a must.
Positions available: One full-time.

Product Marketing Intern
Get hands-on sales and strategy experience as the Product Intern at Davenport Theatrical. As the Product Intern, you will work with the Sales and Marketing teams to help promote Be A Broadway Star! (A Broadway-themed board game), At The Booth (iOS/Android/Blackberry app), and These Magnificent Miles (Documentary on DVD).
Positions available: One part-time or full-time.

Media Intern
The Media Intern helps us shoot photos and videos for our various theatrical projects. The ideal candidate is energetic and outgoing, knows how to use a camera, works well under pressure, and is professional and comfortable when interacting with celebrities and Broadway stars. The position is part-time, with weekly shifts varying based on event schedules.
Positions available: One part-time.

Groups Marketing Intern
The Groups Marketing Intern at Davenport Theatrical Enterprises reports directly to the Director of Group Sales and Group Sales Associate. The intern is responsible for making and receiving phone calls of all types–from answering questions to making reservations for individuals or groups. The candidate must be a highly organized and creative person with an upbeat personality, and should possess knowledge of current Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Applicants should be proficient with Microsoft Excel and internet research. Experience with Salesforce and ticketing systems is a plus.
Positions available: One part-time or full-time.

Awesome 80s Prom Intern
The Awesome 80s Prom intern works directly with the Company Manager/Group Sales Director of The Awesome 80s Prom. The internship experience includes coordinating groups, party planning, customer service, and assisting in daily office duties. There is also the opportunity to gain valuable hands on experience assisting at the Prom on Saturday nights. Candidates must have a friendly phone demeanor, the ability to take initiative, be familiar with Microsoft Office, and have strong communication skills.
Positions available: One part-time with Saturday availability preferred.
