WHO: Chinese Theatre Works ( is s a non-profit theatre company whose mission is to preserve and promote the traditional Chinese performing arts (including opera, shadow theatre, puppetry, dance and music); to create new works that bridge Eastern and Western aesthetics and forms; and to foster understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture in audiences, students, artists and educators around the globe.

We have performed at high profile venues including Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Museum of the Arts and various colleges and arts institutions around the country. We have also presented our works at many international arts festival.

SEEKING: Communication & Marketing Intern and Office Administration Intern


Communication & Marketing Intern
Duties including helping the team to:
1) Put together printed programs for our various shows and performances
2) Put together an orientation handbook for actors
3) Update our website and Facebook page
4) Create press releases and press kits and organize press articles
5) Update and maintain our mailing lists
6) Research and outreach to venues, producers, presenters, agents and supporters to heighten our profile and educate them about our shows

Office Administration Intern
Duties including helping the team to:
1) Update our donor database and income records
2) Organize our filing system including doing research into possible new software platforms for outreach and business development
3) Create agenda and take notes during staff meetings
4) Conduct online research on various funding opportunities
5) Streamline various office and administrative procedures



1) Good writing skills in both English AND Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese)
2) Web savviness including familiarity with Facebook and basic web design/HTML
3) Online research skills
4) Good phone skills
5) Experience in sales and marketing

Office Administration:

1) Familiarity with MS Office programs including the ability to create financial models
2) Basic understanding of finance and accounting
3) Basic understanding of funding methods for non-profits
4) Online research skills
5) Chinese language skill is NOT necessary for this position
