WHO: The Shakespeare Theatre Company

SEEKING: The Shakespeare Theatre Company seeks an early-career director to assist on up to five mainstage productions as Resident Assistant Director; All’s Well That Ends Well, directed by Michael Kahn; Candide, directed by Mary Zimmerman; Cymbeline, directed by Rebecca Bayla Taichman, An Ideal Husband, directed by Keith Baxter; and Enrico IV, directed by Michael Kahn.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include but are not limited to; supporting the director in rehearsals (six days a week), rehearsing understudies with the stage manager, recording accurate blocking, keeping records of each production, and functioning as a full-time staff member of the theatre, with administrative duties in the artistic department.

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should have a degree in theatre, experience as an assistant director on at least two professional productions, a working knowledge of Shakespeare/classics, and have directed at least one full-scale production of a classical play. Candidates should also have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. 

WHEN: There is a flexible start date, but the job could begin as early as July 20, 2010.
