The Sunday Giveaway: Two Tickets to Soul Doctor on Broadway!
Is there a Doctor in the house?
A Soul Doctor that is?
(Cue music!)
And exactly what kind of medicine is Soul Doctor practicing?
To paraphrase the marketing blurb, Soul Doctor is “an exhilarating musical journey that tells the fascinating story of the father of popular Jewish music, Shlomo Carlebach, and his unlikely friendship with Nina Simone.” In other words, it’s the journey of a “rock star rabbi.”
It’s a bit of a faithy-jukeboxy musical. And, well, there certainly hasn’t been one of those on the boards in a long while ever.
Want to pay a little visit to the Doctor?
One of you is! And you’re going to see it for free! All that you have to do is the following.
There was a lot of talk about faith-based stories on Broadway last year, what with Godspell, Leap of Faith, Mormon, Sister Act, etc. I always thought it was more of a coincidence, but maybe not?
We’ve certainly seen some before . . . Superstar, Joseph, Children of Eden?
Is there a faith-based story you’d like to see on stage? Toss a comment with your suggestion (or anti-suggestion) and you’ll be entered to win!
