Broadway Grosses w/e 10/22/2017: Slow and steady before it gets spooky.
It’s a pretty slow and steady October so far, with not a lot of new musicals (the box office movers and shakers) hitting the boards . . . hence the minuscule bump over the prior week.
Overall, we’re up a good 12% from last season . . . thanks in part to The Boss, who is averaging over $500/ticket for his ultra-premium experience.
The Band’s Visit is off to a super start, pulling in $872k this week, showing that our audience’s appetite for unique entertainment (as evidenced by last season’s success stories) is spilling over into this season.
And M. Butterfly and Junk are both making good additions to our lineups . . . the latter buoyed by subscriptions, of course, but hey, it all spends the same, am I right?
Scanning down this list and doing some quick hypothe-guessing on operating costs, and I see a lot of shows in the black.
Now, that will change a bit when a black cat from Halloween crosses our path all too soon.
