You’ve never heard of them.
Years ago, Barry Manilow and Bruce Sussman set out to tell the true story of The Comedian Harmonists.
The Harmonists were one of the most popular musical comedy singing groups in the world in the 1920s and 1930s. (Google ’em! You’ll see!)
Yet, I’d bet you’ve never heard of them.
The reason why you’ve never heard of them is what Harmony is all about.
Harmony is a new musical that is making its New York premiere at the National Yiddish Theater Folksbiene right now.
It’s directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle (Music Man) and stars Chip Zien (Into The Woods, Caroline or Change), Sierra Boggess (Phantom of the Opera, The Little Mermaid), not to mention six super-talented gents who inhabit the incredible voices and spirits of the original Harmonists.
Along with a team of courageous Co-Producers, including Garry C. Kief, Amuse Inc., Patty Baker, Tom & Michael D’Angora, Susan DuBow, Mapleseed Productions, Michelle Kaplan, Harold Matzner, and Neil Gooding Productions, I’m honored to be assisting The Folksbiene tell this story. (And with everything happening in the world right now, it feels essential that we tell this story right now.)
You should go. You can get your tickets here.
If it doesn’t move you, let me know. I’ll buy your ticket back. Yep, that’s how confident I am you’re going to love it.
As you can probably imagine with this kind of team attached, tickets for the 42 performances are going very quickly.
