The week’s marquee story was two major openings: Oedipus at Studio 54 and the long-awaited revival of Chess, the latter seeing a dip to $1.79M yet still holding strong with a striking $154 average ticket—cementing its status as one of fall’s strongest musical launches. Hamilton led the field again at $3.89M, continuing to run strong due to Leslie Odom Jr’s limited engagement return. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child also saw it’s largest box office boost in years, climbing to $2.59M in the first week since Tom Felton joined the Broadway company, reprising his role from the films.Elsewhere on the boards, plays held strong, with Art ($1.54M, 96.8% capacity) and Waiting for Godot ($1.54M, 99.3%) continuing to deliver some of the season’s most robust non-musical numbers.
