Crew – StarQuest International Performing Arts Competition

WHO: StarQuest International Performing Arts Competition is a leader in the Dance Competition circuit for the past 18 years. During our 6 month, 40 city tour we host over 24,000 dancers between the ages of 3-18.

SEEKING: a NYC & NC based superstar crew for our three 2011 season tours. We have an outstanding track record of hiring teams with strong organization skills, positive personalities, and remarkable work ethics. Our show’s structure is based on the same philosophies implemented in 5 star resort hotels and cruise ships: Strong systems executed by strong team members who are passionate about creating remarkable memories for guests.
 
Knowledge of dance is not required to work in our organization, but experience in fast-paced environments like TV, concert promotion, event management, hospitality, or live theater is heavily valued.
 
Our favorite players are regularly invited back every season while our strongest players are offered additional opportunities and promotions.

-EVENT MANAGER:
Acts as the “Stage Manager” for the show. Captain of the entire event. Decides who goes on next and keeps the show running on time. Make quick decisions and remains calm under all circumstances. Insures that all departments are communicating. (Key Traits: People management, kid friendly, loves a challenge, basic knowledge of technical theater)
 
-JUDGES MANAGER:
Also known as the Auditor of the show. Keeps Judges within StarQuest award guidelines. Insures consistent accuracy in all scoring. (Key Traits: Love of numbers, fact gathering & accuracy, people management)
 
-COMPANY MANAGER / AWARDS GIRL:
Responsible for every aspect of the staff and company needs including checking in/out of hotels, organizing travel, ordering food, merchandise cash out, handling petty cash, & additional administrative work through the week.  Tracks down dancers who are ready to perform. Custom organizes awards table for every awards ceremony. Co-creates the awards agenda for each ceremony and is the final check of accuracy for auditor's scoring. Presents all awards on stage as Emcee announces them. (Key Traits: Management experience, stage presence, organized)
 
-DJ / SOUND ENGINEER:
Strong DJ ability & DJing experience required. Comprehensive knowledge of different songs & musical styles needed. Makes all announcements with a clear, commanding voice.  (Key Traits: Knowledge of music, sound equipment, quick thinker)
 
-EMCEE / ASSISTANT EVENT MANAGER:
StarQuest "Poster Person". Master of ceremonies for all awards ceremonies. Interacts with & creates excitement with all performers while on and off stage. Helps with Load-In, set up & Load Out. Gives breaks to Sound Engineer, Event Manager, Video Console. (Key Traits: An interest to learn different departments, people skills, kid friendly, stage presence)
 
-VIDEO CONSOLE:
Responsible for switching between live video feed and the play back of music videos, video billboards, and pre-recorded StarQuest footage. Generates a video recording of every entry filmed by camera.  (Key Traits: Knowledge of video and sound equipment, organized, quick thinker)
 
-VIDEO CAMERA:
Shoots every entry making a unique "video version" of the entry. This is guerilla video with a single camera shoot (Key Traits: Able to focus for long hours, knowledge of video equipment)
 
-VIDEO SALES / REGISTRATION:
Responsible for selling and processing all video orders made on site. Registers guests & handles paper work originating from front of house. Answers questions about the rules of the competition (Key Traits: People skills, sales skills, computer skills, organization)
 
MERCHANDISE MANAGER / ASSISTANT REGISTRATION:
Responsible for set-up, operations, and strike of extensive merchandise boutique. Assists with registration and answering questions about rules of the competition (Key Traits: Pristine organization, people skills, sales skills)
 

WHEN: The regional touring season runs 15 weekends, not including Easter:
 
-Training Part 1 in NYC: January 24-28, 2011
-Tour 1: runs from February 7th-May 23, 2011
-Tour 2: runs from February 7th-May 23, 2011
-Tour 3: runs from February 14th-May 30, 2011
 

-This position has no union jurisdiction.
-Competitive salary plus commission.
-Travel, food & double occupancy lodging provided.
-Intensive paid training for all positions on site in actual facilities.
-Those signed must be available for ALL training sessions and shows.
-Must be able to travel from New York City or Raleigh, NC airports.
-Travel often runs Thursday through Monday & includes setup, show & strike.
-Return to point of origin after every show.
