SEEKING: Director of Education

ABOUT: New York’s premier theater for kids and families in NYC.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees a dynamic department of 6, plus 40 part-time teaching artists and up to 16 paid apprentices. Each year, the New 42nd Street presents a 37-week performing arts season at the historic 499-seat New Victory Theater, complemented by a city-wide, multifaceted, and nationally recognized Arts Education program. Core department activities include The New Vic School Partnership Program, The New Vic/New 42 Youth Corps and The New Vic Studio Workshop Program.

REQUIREMENTS:  Strong leadership skills, must enjoy working collaboratively on a wide variety of projects, have extensive knowledge of the arts education field—performing arts, in particular—and the ability to perform in a fast-paced and changing environment. Excellent communication and technology skills, knowledge of and experience with early childhood through high school educational practices, a Masters Degree, and 5+ years management experience also required. Knowledge of NYC public school system, Tessitura ticketing system, Theater for Young Audiences, international trends, practices and research in arts education/creativity preferred.
