The Dr. Kenny Encouragement Fund was established in 2020, to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Kenny Dipchand Hasija, father of Ken Davenport (originally Kenneth Anjum Hasija).
Born in Bombay, India in 1929, Dr. Kenny put a passion for the arts aside, attended medical school in India and immigrated to the United States in the 1960s, in order to help provide for his mother and brother back at home.
He was extremely active in the local theater scene in Southbridge, Massachusetts, and is the reason his son found and fell in love with the theater.
Dr. Kenny was the ultimate “encourager.” If he recognized a passion within you, he would push you to pursue it . . . no matter what.
We established The Dr. Kenny Encouragement Fund, which will provide financial support to those pursuing careers in the arts, with a focus on BIPOC and those from marginalized communities, including immigrants like Dr. Kenny himself, to ensure that his tradition and spirit of encouragement is kept alive, even though he may be gone.
