Lighting and Sound Designer- Red Thread Theater

WHO: Red Thread Theater

SEEKING: Seeking Lighting and Sound Designer for Devised Play

Red Thread Theater seeks a Lighting Designer and a Sound Designer for a new play. This show is being created entirely out of a devised theater process, where "performer writers" weave their individual personal stories into a collective autobiographical performance piece. With a cast of five, the performance style is minimalist physical theater, using only chairs/cubes on a blank stage and substituting the performers bodies and voices for conventional scenery and props.  Check out more information about the process (http://redthreadtheater.com/performance/) or details on a previous production (http://redthreadtheater.com/about/news/).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

–> Attending three rehearsals, on Sundays, 4pm – 7pm, between Mar 20 – May 29
–> Creating plot/design based on available stock equipment at theater rental
–> Attending Tech/Dress Rehearsal in the theater on June 2, 6pm – 10pm.
–> Operating light or sound board during weekend run, June 3 & 4, @ 8pm

REQUIREMENTS: Since it is a devised piece, the Lighting and Sound Design will evolve out of a larger collaboratively created vision. Seeking applicants with a minimalist aesthetic, strong interest in the collaborative process and familiarity with devised theater.

PAY: No pay at this time but this is definitely a great developmental opportunity for someone interested in contributing to a creative laboratory setting

HOW TO APPLY: If interested, please send your resume, statement of interest and interview availability to Julie Rosier (jrosier06@gmail.com). Please specify which position (Lighting Designer or Sound Designer) you are applying for in the title of your email.
