I don’t usually have actors on my podcast.

I’ve only had two actor-guests before, and those were Kate Shindle and Charles Busch. While Kate shone a very bright and enlightening spotlight on the challenges of the Broadway actress (in contrast to the Broadway actor), we talked more about her role as the President of the Actors’ Equity Association than the roles on her resume. And Charles and I largely discussed his career as an award-winning playwright, in addition to his performing career.

So imagine my surprise when I was breaking “wings” with Steven Pasquale and we got into a big convo about the business side of the biz, and I said, “You gotta do my podcast.”  And he said ok.

So if you’re an actor, you obviously gotta hear Steven chat about what it’s like to trod the boards, both on stage (The Bridges of Madison County, reasons to be pretty, this year’s The Robber Bridegroom) and in front of the camera (Rescue Me, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, The Good Wife, etc.).

And if you’re a writer, producer, or anything else, then you also gotta hear Steven give you the, well, TheActorsPerspective.

Listen to Steven give you the scoop on all things including:

• His thoughts on long-running shows and how actors can keep things fresh and interesting.
• Why he calls auditioning “the worst experience in the world.”
• What you need to get him to do your show.
• HOT TOPIC:  The actor’s role in the developmental process, and how/why they should participate in the future of that production (you know, the whole Hamilton debate).
• If he’d ever produce and why or why not.

I could’ve kicked myself for not reaching out to an actor before this.  Because no one else that works in the theater has their perspective.  They are the only ones on the front lines.  It’s them and the audience . . . and that’s it.  Once they’re out there, there’s not a thing anyone else can do.

So we better listen to what they have say . . . starting with Steven!
