Master Electrician
The Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Mississippi seeks applications for a Performing Arts Technician to serve as a Master Electrician for departmental productions to begin August 13, 2012. An associate’s degree with an emphasis in theatre is required for this temporary, full time position. The department is seeking a candidate who will be responsible for maintaining the lighting equipment in our performance venues, budgeting the materials for each production, and assisting with the oversight of students while working closely with the faculty lighting designer and assistant chair of production to ensure that the electrical elements of the productions are completed in a cost effective manner with an emphasis on quality, safety and student education. Additionally, this position will work with the technical director and sound supervisor to facilitate events scheduled in our venues by entities outside of the department. This can be a great position for the right early career candidate!
