WHO: The Trinity Players

SEEKING: The Trinity Players is calling for 6-8 actors of various ages for a Staged Reading of Shakespeare’s work, built through a workshop called “Experiment: Eighth” designed to be ensemble-building, led by the Players’ artistic director Anthony Patton, formerly artistic director for the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival. The workshops will center on language and poetic expression of life in Shakespeare, using selected set speeches, soliloquies and short scenes from his plays. Actors will play multiple roles from the selections, including: “Juliet”, “Romeo”, “Viola”, “Orsino”, “Lady Macbeth”, “Macbeth”, “Richard the Third”, “Lady Anne”, Prince Hal”, “Falstaff”, “Cassius”, “Brutus”, “Othello”, “Iago”, “Hamlet”, “Claudius”, Gertrude”, amongst others. The workshops will also center on a newly drafted acting edition being composed by The Players’ dramaturg Lee Wittenberg.

WHEN: The Staged Reading will be presented in New York to invited guests on Monday, June 27th, 2011. Rehearsals (which will be the workshops) are produced under the AEA Staged Reading Guidelines, during the last two full weeks of June. Actors answering the call must be available generally during these periods, and for the reading on 6/27.

PAY: An honorarium of $50 will be made to the actors for being in the workshops and reading.

HOW TO APPLY: Appointment auditions will begin mid-May, by appointment only drawn from the submissions. Submissions of p/r and cover letter, describing experience or general thoughts on acting Shakespeare, should be sent to thetrinityplayers@zoho.com.
