Broadway surged over the holiday weekend, with total grosses up 25.4% to $39.4M and attendance climbing to 276,600. The holiday boost and several new openings fueled the surge, led by Hamilton, which rose $299K for a commanding $4.04M total. Wicked also rose sharply, adding $487K for a commanding $2.54M total, while The Lion King leapt $336K to $2.27M. New arrival Beetlejuice made a lively return at the Palace, grossing $1.16M in its first full week of performances, and Art benefited from a rare nine-performance schedule, climbing $272K to $1.76M.  Among new titles, The Queen of Versailles began previews with a strong start, joining Liberation and Little Bear Ridge Road in bolstering Broadway’s fall lineup.Elsewhere, strong rebounds came across the board. Death Becomes Her added $297K for $1.61M, Hadestown jumped $254K to $1.05M, and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child soared $338K to $1.28M. Buena Vista Social Club and Chicago each posted solid gains, while Mamma Mia! edged higher again to $1.76M, selling at 101% capacity. On the play side, Waiting for Godot remained a powerhouse at $1.87M, once again selling out the Hudson, while Oh, Mary! held firm just under the $1M mark.
