Broadway Grosses w/e 10/15/2017: Tourists stick around Post-Columbus Day
Usually, grosses take a high single-digit dive after a long weekend, but not last week. Our post-Columbus Day week was only off 1% from the previous weekend (partly due to a very strong Columbus Day itself).
Several new shows are helping to keep those aggregate numbers up, including M. Butterfly, Junk, and the highly anticipated The Band’s Visit, which arrived with a partial week gross of almost $769k.
And, of course, Bruce Springsteen is keeping our ball in the air, with his five performance gross of almost $2mm.
Expect numbers to bounce up and down a bit over the next few weeks (especially during the hated Halloween week), but overall our box office should be pretty stable, as a couple of the new shows (including this one) make up for the departing War Paint.
