Broadway Grosses w/e 9/27/2026

Broadway pulled back 11.00% to $24.09M as the post-Broadway Week correction arrived and a wave of new previews entered the market ahead of fall openings, with attendance falling to 209,194 — a natural seasonal softening that reflects the transition rather than any structural weakness. Hamilton remained the week’s standout at $2.61M at just over 101% capacity, while Harry Potter and the Cursed Child rebounded strongly, surging $607K to $1.57M. Oh, Mary! held near $1.46M at just under 100% capacity, and The Lion King eased to $1.70M. MJ held near $1.54M, and Paranormal Activity had a solid week at $871K at nearly full capacity. Buena Vista Social Club dipped but remained near 95% capacity at $804K, and Chicago held firm at $980K just under 100%.

The week’s broader softness was concentrated in titles that benefited most from Broadway Week demand — Wicked fell $293K to $1.01M, The Great Gatsby dropped $174K to $841K, and Stranger Things: The First Shadow shed $249K to $573K. School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play continued in previews ahead of its September 28 opening, and The Imaginary Invalid began previews at the Todd Haimes, opening October 22. With the fall preview season now underway and new productions entering the pipeline, the roster is positioned to rebuild heading into the holiday stretch.

SCHOOL GIRLS; OR, THE AFRICAN MEAN GIRLS PLAY is in previews at the Friedman and opens on 9/28.
THE IMAGINARY INVALID began previews at the Haimes and opens on 10/22.
THE LOST BOYS had four performances with 1,648 seats and four performances with 1,306 seats this week, for a total capacity of 11,816. As this report cannot accommodate both capacities, the number of seats is displayed as 1,477.
