Broadway Grosses w/e 11/5/2017: Few treats. Lots of tricks.
Last week was a trifecta of Box Office “boos,” with Halloween, Daylight Savings Time, and the NYC Marathon all disrupting everyone’s schedule enough to scare them away from going to the theater.
Amy Schumer made her Broadway debut this week, which added to the bottom line, but not enough to balance out Bette Midler’s LOA from Dolly, unfortunately. But toss Jason Mraz in Waitress, and you get even closer to making up the gap.
We still ended down almost 5% from the previous week (which was down from the week before that), but we’re still holding steady at almost 20% up from last season to date.
And we’ve got Veterans Day coming up this weekend, which will bring a boatload of tourists to town to help bounce us back up to better levels.
