Broadway Grosses w/e 8/05/2018: Rain or Shine
This week we said goodbye to A Bronx Tale, which played to full houses and felt an 8% jump to $799,426. Taking their cue from The Boss himself, many chose to take their summer vacations this week and stayed out of the mid-town heat, causing most shows to feel a slight dip in grosses.
No doubt we’ll be looking back fondly at these numbers come September, but August is typically the beginning of the end of summer sales patterns. Overall, grosses dropped to $36M from last week’s summer high of nearly $40M. However, not bad considering last week’s flash flooding and extreme heat.
While we rarely see limited run plays this deep into the summer, the schedule is having no effect on The Boys in the Band, which played to 103% of its capacity. Similarly, Straight White Men played to full houses at 95%, despite a lower average ticket.
