POSITION: Business Associate

DESCRIPTION: Signature Theatre, one of New York’s leading off-Broadway theatres, is seeking a BUSINESS ASSOCIATE. Founded in 1991, Signature Theatre exists to honor and celebrate the playwright, producing seven to nine productions annually; and, in 2005 Signature began its groundbreaking Signature Ticket Initiative, providing affordable tickets to all of its productions. Signature recently opened The Pershing Square Signature Center, the Frank Gehry-designed 75,000 square foot Center featuring three theatres, two rehearsal studios, a central, public lobby with a café and bookstore, as well as administrative offices.

This is a full-time position. Salary is commensurate with experience, and benefits include Health, Dental, Vision, FSA and 401(k) plans.

Responsibilities include both Finance and Human Resource duties:

Finance
•Process and submit weekly payroll to third party preparer
•Prepare and input weekly payroll entries into general ledger (QuickBooks)
•Analyze invoices and expenses for accuracy and proper coding
•Prepare and input invoices and expenses for payment
•Perform daily and monthly credit card reconciliations
•Perform monthly bank and general ledger account reconciliations
•Compile testing materials to prepare for annual audit and 990 reporting

Human Resources
•Prepare and maintain accurate and complete personnel records and files
•Support recruitment of new staff, including posting positions and responding to inquiries
•Conduct onboarding procedures with new staff
•Administer fringe benefits, including health insurance, 401(k) and FSA plans
•File Unemployment and Workers’ Comp insurance claims
•Prepare for and coordinate annual Workers’ Comp insurance audit
•Research, update and draft organizational and departmental policies and procedures

Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Arts Management, or will possess a strong combination of equivalent experience and a working knowledge of accounting. An interest in non-profit theatre is a must. Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
