WHO: The Actors' Shakespeare Project 2011-12

SEEKING:

No understudies. No housing is available to out-of-area performers. Many roles have been pre-cast (i.e. offered and accepted). Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements for them. Roles listed below are available unless otherwise specified.

TWELFTH NIGHT (OR WHAT YOU WILL) by Shakespeare. Dir: Melia Bensussen. 1st reh: 8/30/11. Runs 9/27-10/23.

Sebastian:
Twin brother to Viola.

Antonio:
A captain. Friend to Sebastian.

The roles of Viola, Orsino, Olivia, Maria, Sir Toby Belch, Sir Andrew Aguecheek, Malvolio and Feste are cast.

THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR by Shakespeare. Dir: Steven Barkhimer. 1st reh: 11/7/11. Runs 12/7/11 – 1/1/12.

Many roles will double.

Dr. Caius:
French physician.

Rugby:
Servant to Caius.

Mistress Page:
Happily married and honest woman.

Anne Page:
Daughter of Mistress Page, in love with Fenton, a young gentleman.

Shallow:
A country justice.

The roles of Sir John Falstaff, Bardolph, Pistol, Nym, Robin, Mr. Ford, Mr. Page, Mr. Ford, Mr. Page, William Page, Sir Hugh Evans, Mistress Quickly, Slender, Simple, Fenton, The Host of the Garter Inn and Mistress Ford are cast.

MEDEA by Euripides. Dir: David R. Gammons. 1st reh: 1/10/12. Runs 2/8 – 3/4/12.

Jason:
Medea's husband, upon whom she seeks revenge.

Chorus:
Represents Corinthian women.

Nurse:
Caretaker for Medea's sons.

Messenger.

Tutor:
Tutors Medea's sons.

The roles of Aegeus/Creon and Medea are cast.

TROILUS AND CRESSIDA by Shakespeare. Dir: Tina Packer. 1st reh: 3/27/12. Runs 4/25 – 5/20/12.

Many roles will double.

Helen:
Wife to Menelaus, living with Paris.

Odysseus:
King of Ithaca.

Diomedes, Ajax and Achilles:
Princes.

Aeneas:
A commander and leader.

Andromache:
Hector's wife.

Thersites:
A deformed and scurrilous low-class "fool".

Patroclus:
Friend of Achilles.

The roles of Antenor, Calchas, Cressida, Alexander, Pandarus, Priam, Cassandra, Hector, Troilus, Paris, Deiphobus, Helenus, Margarelon, Agamemnon, Nestor and Menelaus are cast.

Theatre’s statement: “All roles are available for non-traditional casting.”

WHEN: Typical rehearsal schedule: Tu – Fr evenings, weekend days. Performances generally run Th – Su, with several student matinees.

PAY: Cambridge MA NEAT (approval/salary level pending. 2010-11 weekly minimum: $333).

Notes/What to bring:

Each Equity Member has a minimum of three minutes to audition. Please prepare material of your choice (including, if you wish, selections from the season). For those who wish to perform a scene, a reader will be available. Please be prepared to state your starting and stopping places. Perusal scripts are available at StageSource, 88 Tremont St, Boston.

Please bring a picture and resume, stapled back-to-back. Please bring your Equity card.
