WHO: The Billie Holliday Theatre 

SEEKING: Riley Innes: African American man, late 30s. Restaurant owner. Takes pride in his heritage. Having moved away from home, he has returned to Bend River, NC to be with his father, Pullen Innes, who is now in intensive care at Memorial Hospital.

Patrick “Uncle Pat” Innes: African American, early 60s. Riley’s uncle, Pullen’s brother. Farmer who speaks his mind and talks too much. A Republican from his heart, and holds all of the family secrets.

Jessie Innes James: African American woman, late 50s – early 60s. Riley’s aunt. Pullen and Pat’s baby sister. Farm woman; practical and concerned about everybody. Capable of exploding when pushed, and has a sharp tongue.

Gordon MacInnes: Caucasian, early 60s. Farmer who believes in ancestors and loyalty. Still flies the Confederate flag in front of his house, and often wears a Confederate flag T-shirt, yet goes to Beulah Baptist (A black church) every third Sunday to hear the choir.

Casey MacInnes: Caucasian, man, late 30s. Gordon’s son. Riley’s high-school friend. A liberal; very concerned about the human condition.

Hannah Black: African American, late 30s. Riley and Casey’s childhood friend. Attractive woman (was the high school prom queen). A Southern woman to the core. Now the E. R. nurse at Memorial Hospital.

Cookie Whitaker: African American woman, late 50s – early 60s. A real country woman who is confident in her sexuality. Loves to cook, and looking for a husband.

Rachel Johnson Lewis: African American, mid 30s. Modern-day country woman who loves her children. Cheerful.

WHEN: 1st reh: 9/29/11. Rehearses Tu-F from 5-10, Sa & Su (and, possibly, Th 10/6) from 12-6. Runs 10/20-12/18 (Th-Sa @ 8, Sa @ 3, Su @ 4)

PAY: Approval/salary level pending; most recent weekly minimum: $350
