Honorary Understudy to Dame Edna Everage – All About Me

WHO: All About Me & Jeffrey Richards Associates

SEEKING: Honorary understudy to DAME EDNA EVERAGE, the toast of Melbourne society and an international gigastar.

WHEN: The auditions will be held on February 17th from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM at Henry Miller’s Theatre (124 West 43rd St.)

REQUIREMENTS: The auditions will be judged by the following theatrical gigastars of the media world: Michael Riedel (The New York Post), Michael Musto (The Village Voice), Frank DiLella (NY1) and more to be announced soon. There will also be special appearances by guest-judges Michael Feinstein and Dame Edna Everage, who are making their return to Broadway in their extravagant musical entertainment All About Me, directed by three time Tony Award-nominee Casey Nicholaw.

All About Me will play Henry Miller’s Theatre beginning previews Monday, February 22, 2010 and opening on Thursday, March 18, 2010.

Producers are asking auditionees to be dressed in Dame Edna garb and to prepare a two-minute audition explaining why he/she would make a fabulous Dame Edna understudy. Auditionees should also be prepared to perform either a monologue, performance piece or modern dance movement and should prepare 16 bars of a song of his/her choice (bonus points for selections from The Great Australian songbook). The winner of the audition contest will receive a credit in the Playbill as the official honorary understudy for Dame Edna.

HOW TO APPLY: To audition, producers are asking people to e-mail their name, resume and a brief explanation of what makes them fit to be a Dame Edna understudy to:

Auditionees are not confirmed until they receive a confirmation e-mail. Auditionees should be okay with having parts of their audition filmed by TV crews and photographers who are covering this unique audition event.
