POSITION: Fall Interns
DESCRIPTION:The award-winning New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF), now in its 10th Anniversary Season, seeks seasonal interns for General Management, Literary, Development and Marketing departments.
The internship program exposes young professionals to the world of non-profit theater administration. Internships are open to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as early-career professionals. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. All interns receive a $100 /mo stipend after successful completion of internship. Alternatively, college credit can be arranged in lieu of a stipend.
Our program dates are run by academic semester:
Fall: September to December;
Winter/Spring: January to April;
Summer: May to August.
Full-time candidates are preferred, however part-time positions are available with a base commitment of 20 hours per week.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Development:
Interns assist the Director of Development with all phases of institutional fundraising. Interns have regular contact with members and patrons; assist with planning of development events such as the Annual Gala, assist with proposal writing, as well as database management.
*Additional Requirements: Salesforce experience a plus.
General Management:
Interns support the General Management team with the execution of all programs. Tasks include the verification and review of contracts, assistance with the logistics of production set-up and tear down, filing, spreadsheet tracking and much more.
*Additional requirements: strong decision-making skills, ability to work well under pressure. Theater production experience is a plus.
Literary:
Interns work with the Director of Programming to coordinate the evaluation of hundreds of submissions received each year as part of the Next Link Project. Duties include: submission tracking and script evaluation.
*Additional requirements: literary interest, ability to work independently, strong writing skills.
Marketing & Graphic Design:
Interns assist the Marketing manager with publicity and sponsorship for all NYMF programs. Duties include: writing proposals, outreach, digital/social/mobile media maintenance, as well as collaborating with advertisers and sponsors.
*Additional requirements: excellent knowledge of digital/social/mobile media platforms, experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign– please include samples of or link to, portfolio, experience with proposal writing a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
All interns are expected to possess:
• Strong time management skills
• The ability to multi-task and prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment
• Serve as a team-player
• Have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
• Ability to think creatively and problem solve
