POSITION: Operations Manager/New Juilliard Ensemble Member

DESCRIPTION:Ensemble Production
• Manage ensemble events, including venue preparation, setup, and stage changes in rehearsal rooms at Juilliard and performance venues as assigned
• Manage special projects (extra performances, recording sessions, touring engagements, interdisciplinary productions)
• Prepare stage diagrams for assigned concerts
• Anticipate all equipment and unusual instrument needs
• Responsible for the coordination of all technical details with students, conductors, orchestra personnel, orchestra library, communications office, concert office, venue staff, and others
Instrument/Equipment Management
• Monitor and oversee the scheduling, usage, and maintenance of the wind, brass, and electronic instrument collections
• Develop and expand the collections with awareness of future programming
• Assign and coordinate the distribution of keys for Large Instrument Lockers
• Oversee maintenance of lockers and lock cylinders with Facilities Management
• Manage the use, maintenance, and transport of the Rogers Organ
Personnel Management
• Schedule and oversee Work Study staff
• Liaise with stage crew at venues as needed
• Responsible for determining crew size and crew schedule for stagehands, as needed
New Juilliard Ensemble Manager
• Plan and execute all aspects of the rehearsal and performance schedule of NJE, including operations, library, personnel, and venue management
• Serve as liaison between music director and musicians of the ensemble
• Cultivate interest in the ensemble and recruits students for each NJE performance
• Create rehearsal schedules in consultation with Music Director of the ensemble and Director of Orchestral and Ensemble Operations
• Attend all rehearsals and performances, managing personnel, operations, and library for all
• Provide all program information to Communication Office, and liaise with other departments within Juilliard as needed
• Work closely with venue management on production needs: stage set up, stage changes, technical requirements; make necessary decisions regarding crew size and crew schedule

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in music
• Background in operations/production for a performing arts organization or venue
• Knowledge of orchestral repertoire
• Ability to read music
• Knowledge of woodwind, brass, percussion, and keyboard instruments, and electronic equipment
• Commitment to students and education
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational skills
• Ability to multi task and make decisions under pressure
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, ArtsVision
• Instrumental performance experience preferred
• Stage diagraming software: AutoCad, Visio, etc., a plus
