POSITION: Spring Internships
DESCRIPTION: Davenport Theatrical Enterprises is looking for qualified candidates for our Internship Program. We are seeking interns in all areas of our office. Our spring internships begin in January and go through mid/late May. You must be willing to commit to at least 20 hours a week (weekdays and weekends are available), however, preference is given to those candidates who can commit to full-time internships. A stipend is paid upon successful completion of the Internship Program. Please read the position descriptions below and apply here:
Executive Intern
The Executive Intern serves as a second assistant to Ken Davenport. Responsibilities include answering phones, managing investor and company data, updating the At The Booth App, and maintaining the general upkeep of the office space. The Executive Intern must have strong verbal communication skills, friendly phone demeanor, solid proofing and editing skills, and must be knowledgeable about the theater industry. Opportunities will be available to attend readings, seminars, and other office events. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and HTML is a plus.
Positions available: One full time (Monday-Thursday).
Intern to the Creative Director
The Intern to the Creative Director works alongside the department of Internet Marketing. He or she will produce site updates and new content for DidHeLikeIt.com, BestOfOffBroadway.com, and more. This Intern also aids in the editing and designing of new show materials and graphics. Basic knowledge of Photoshop and HTML a plus. Solid proofing and editing skills a must.
Positions available: One part-time or full-time.
General Management Intern
The General Management Intern assists in both General and Company Management. Duties include filing, running reports, house seat requests, and shadowing the company manager at shows. Throughout the internship, the intern will get an overview of Ovation and Telecharge ticketing systems. The ideal candidate is interested in a career in company or general management, and is proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Positions available: One part time. Some weekend and evening availability preferred.
Finance Intern
The Finance Intern assists in the day-to-day financial operations of Davenport Theatrical and any other projects as they arise, such as reviewing/proofreading contracts and other documents, data entry, etc. The right candidate also has the opportunity to work on projects with the entire Davenport Theatrical team. He or she must also be willing to attend to the regular intern duties such as filing and taking notes during office meetings. Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Excel. Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
Positions available: One part-time.
Groups Marketing Intern
The Group Sales Marketing Intern at Davenport Theatrical Enterprises reports directly to the Director of Group Sales and the Group Sales Operations Manager. The intern’s responsibilities include (but are not limited too): generating contracts, reports, tracking and processing payments, research and outreach to new group sales clients, providing basic group sales information to inbound callers, placing orders, providing operational and administrative support and leading the social media for the department. The candidate must be a highly organized and creative person with an upbeat personality, and should possess knowledge of current Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Applicants should be proficient with Microsoft Excel, social media platforms and Internet research. Experience with Salesforce and ticketing systems is a plus.
Positions available: One part-time or full-time.
Office Intern
Through the internship, the Office Intern will work within all departments of Davenport Theatrical and will interact with other theatrical companies in the city as well. Through hands on experience with all departments the Office Intern is exposed to numerous aspects of the industry. The Office Intern will be responsible for the delivery of checks, packages, and contracts. Applicants should be eager to learn, able to take initiative, and ready to jump in wherever needed.
Positions available: One part-time.
Studio Management Intern
The Studio Management Intern assists the front desk of the Davenport Studios, reads scripts on behalf of the producer, and supports the Your Broadway Genius Street Team administratively. Applicants should have a background in writing and theatrical critique, interest or knowledge in current shows/writers, and strong communication and problem solving skills.
Positions available: One full time and one evening.
Media Services Intern
The Media Services Intern helps promote Broadway and Off-Broadway shows using advertising and marketing channels controlled by DTE. Working alongside the Media Services Director, duties include some light graphic design work, scheduling and designing email blasts, as well as maintaining an up to the minute list of planned ads throughout the coming months. Basic knowledge of Photoshop, Dreamweaver and HTML suggested. Attention to detail, on the ball thinking, and the ability to have a good time are a must.

Ken created one of the first Broadway podcasts, recording over 250 episodes over 7 years. It features interviews with A-listers in the theater about how they “made it”, including 2 Pulitzer Prize Winners, 7 Academy Award Winners and 76 Tony Award winners. Notable guests include Pasek & Paul, Kenny Leon, Lynn Ahrens and more.
