The Sunday Giveaway: Two Tickets to West Side Story with the LA Philharmonic!
There are sometimes when I wished Broadway was on the West Coast.
Usually it happens in frigid February, or when I’m really missing my wife (she lives there – we’re a bi-coastal couple) . . . or when the Hollywood Bowl has concerts like what we’re giving away tickets to this week!
On Thursday, July 14th and Tuesday, July 19th at 8 PM, the Bowl is presenting a concert version of one of the greatest musicals ever written, West Side Story. (Truly – how many other musicals out there so perfectly blend music, lyric, book and dance to tell such a heartbreaking story?)
And just look at who is playing those parts you know so well.
We’re talking Jeremy Jordan as Tony, Karen “We’re so thankful she came out of retirement” Olivo as Anita, and Solea Pfeiffer, a 2016 (yep, that’s right, 2016) graduate from the U of Michigan as Maria (can you say, voted “Most Likely To Succeed?”).
The supporting cast . . . the LA freakin’ Philharmonic. I’m getting goosebumps just thinking of those Bernstein melodies played by 100 musicians, underneath the stars . . . and that cast singing, “Tonight, tonight . . . ”
You can learn all about the performance here.
I won’t be there.
But one of you West Coasters will, you lucky giveaway-winning duck.

And maybe the rest of us should start a petition to move Broadway to the West Coast. Bad idea? What about just in February?
