It’s not easy being green, especially on Broadway, where we power more and more Vari-Lites and burn more and more paper each and every year.

David Stone, the Producer of Wicked, and therefore maybe the “greenest” producer of us all (in so many ways), has taken the lead in trying to prevent Broadway from falling too behind in the eco-movement, since we are usually so far behind in every other movement.

Wicked is sponsoring the event below, which is open to all, so check it out if you can.  And a jolly-green giant sized thank you to David and the others involved for forcing our sometimes wasteful industry to band together to fight an issue that affects us all.

While I don’t believe that David’s involvement is anything but altruistic, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how Wicked supporting a “green” initiative on Broadway hits the sweet spot of marketing.  It just seems to make sense . . . and supports a social cause.

The real press worthy initiative will be the first Broadway show that announces they are entirely green.
