Yes, someone WILL beat you to your idea.
The answer is yes.
If you have ever had an idea for a play, a musical, or heck, even a movie, and you do NOT do it? Someone else will.
It is only a matter of time.
That little voice in your head that yells at you from time to time . . . you know the one . . . the one that says, “You better do that thing you’ve been talking about for so long. And soon. Before someone else does!”
That little voice isn’t your mother, or your father, or even me. It’s YOU. And it’s the purest form of you you’ll ever hear.
Because it is telling you what you want to do. What you should do.
So now is the time to do it. Before someone else does.
I know this from personal experience. I had an idea for a show over twenty years ago. And when I hit a few stumbling blocks along the way (naysayers, usually – who I, unfortunately, listened to), I quit on it. And I quit on me.
And someone else did it. Like the exact same thing. Almost like they ripped it out of my laptop (they didn’t).
And it blew up. Like my life would be VERY different right now, especially during this pandemic, if I had done it.
I don’t look back. I have no regrets. And I can’t change the past anyway, so what’s the point.
But I can change the future. And I do know that when I hear that voice . . . when I hear MYSELF . . . the part of me that isn’t influenced by naysayers or odds or finances or anything . . . I listen.
You should listen too.
