Breakdown
In this taut psychological thriller, Larissa is a single mother who can barely meet the mortgage on her house in Mount Vernon, NY. When a bizarre incident involving her 4-year-old daughter forces her to face someone from her past, her own questionable actions come back to haunt her.
Seeking:
Joel –
45-55. A psychologist. A counselor/mentor for Larissa when she was a teen. Under stress for an investigation about improper behavior with a teen patient. Warm, a practiced listener, the voice of reason, but now threatened and vulnerable. Father of Angus.
Angus –
18-25. A troubled teen, on the verge of being kicked out of school. Sullen and tentative, but trying. When pushed, he reveals himself as a wounded animal. Joel’s son.
Jonathan –
30-40. Recently met Larissa at a bar. Works as a truck driver, but has gone job to job. Formerly in the military, and might have done time in jail. Still, not a tough guy – educated, sensitive, proactive, seemingly reliable, but victim to outbursts of passion.
Buddy –
30-40. A Police Sergeant. Former high school boyfriend of Larissa’s. He’s called in to help her clean up a mess. Proud, pragmatic, and “the marrying kind” – a real mensch. May harbor feelings for her, not all of them positive.
Larissa –
CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary. 30-40. Single, self-employed, raising a 4 year-old special needs child. Has overcome personal demons to build an independent life. Funny, buoyant, and strong willed, she’s also righteous, and haunted by her past mistakes.
