CHAIRMAN WILLIAM CARTWRIGHT/MAYOR SAPSEA :
PATTER VOICE. AGES 22-35 A long and difficult role, keeps the whole thing together. Constant interplay with the audience and the other characters – ability to ad lib a real advantage. As it turns out, plays the small part of MAYOR SAPSEA

MISS ALICE NUTTING/EDWIN DROOD:
LEGIT MEZZO. AGES 17-30. Prima donna and male impersonator, charming but, as you might expect, prone to stroppiness. Must command attention on the stage. Plays EDWIN DROOD. Attractive, rich and popular, the young man who has everything. Disappears in Act I, but comes back at the end.

MISS DEIRDRE PAGET/ROSA BUD
LEGIT SOPRANO TO HIGH Bb. AGES 17-30.Always has the ingenue parts, for (we hope) obvious reasons. Plays ROSA BUD. The ingenue – young, beautiful and apparently fragile. Betrothed to Drood, the only man who isn't in love with her. A suspect.

MR. CLIVE PAGET/JOHN JASPER
BARITENOR.AGES 20-35.The Royale's male lead, a devilishly attractive cad, and knows it. Plays JOHN JASPER,the baddie. Choirmaster of Cloisterham Cathedral, and uncle of Edwin Drood. In love with Rosa Bud. Madness lurks beneath smooth exterior. Major role. Strictly speaking, a suspect, but didn't do it. Big dramatic music, plus a patter duet.

MISS ANGELA PRYSOCK/PRINCESS PUFFER
ALTO. AGES 22-30.Ancient receptacle much loved by the audience. Has done it all before (with everyone) – tart with a heart part. Plays PUFFER. Madam, opium dealer and general purveyor of vice of all kinds. Glamorous in her ruin. A suspect.

MR. CEDRIC MONCRIEF/REVEREND CRISPARKLE
An open book – scope for development (could be like the character he plays, or completely different). Plays CRISPARKLE. Archetypal vicar, but also a bit of a lurker – was in love with Rosa's mother. A suspect.

MR. VICTOR GRINSTEAD/NEVILLE LANDLESS
BARITENOR.AGES 17-35. Enjoying his first night with the Royale. NEVILLE LANDLESS. Proud, well-to-do Ceylonese young man, fallen on hard times, falls out with Drood just before his death and thus a suspect. Indian accent.

MISS JANET CONOVER/HELENA LANDLESS
MEZZO-BELT. AGES 20-30.A long-standing trooper of the Royale – lots of scope for making this a character. Plays HELENA LANDLESS. Sister of Neville, and may have done it for his sake – a suspect. Stock Oriental character with "geographically untraceable accent".

MR PHILIP BAX/BAZZARD
TENOR. AGES 17-35.Devotee of the theatre, the everlasting understudy, who finally gets his moment. In fact may have quite a major part if (as is quite likely) the evening turns out that way. This is the sad clown part as opposed to Cricker who is the happy clown. BAZZARD. Another old retainer, but a classier one than Durdles. A suspect.

MR. NICK CRICKER SR/DURDLES
ACTING ROLE. AGES 22-35."Clown Prince of the Royale" who makes the most of every line – small part that can steal the show if the others are not careful! DURDLES. Old servant, sexton and drunkard. Carries the denouement.

MASTER NICK CRICKER JR/DEPUTY
AGES 17-30.Son of Senior. A Boy (could be anywhere between seven and forty-seven) DEPUTY. Even lower in the pecking order than Durdles.

MISS ISOBEL YEARSLEY AND MISS FLORENCE GILL
AGES 17-35(Mezzo/Soprano)
Enthusiastic if not always well-directed members of the company. Play ALICE and BEATRICE. Girls, contemporaries of Rosa Bud.

MR. BRIAN PANKHURST/HORACE/CITIZEN OF CLOISTERHAM; MISS GWYNDOLYN PRYNN/CITIZEN OF CLOISERHAM; MR ALAN ELIOT/CITIZEN OF CLOISTERHAM; MR JAMES THROTTLE/STAGE MANAGER/CITIZEN OF CLOISTERHAM:
All ages and all types. The other players of the Music Hall Royale. Play all types of roles in the 'show'. Must be very comfortable with improv and have good comedic skills. Spend lots of time interacting with the audience

REQUIREMENTS: All actors must be very comfortable with comedy. Improv skills a plus. Also actors must be able to do or willing to learn how to do ANY form of British accent

AUDITION INFORMATION: Auditions will be held May 25th and May 26th from 7-8 PM at the Music Conservatory of Westchester 216 Central Ave White Plains, NY.

Please prepare 32 bars of a song preferably in the style of the show (classic Musical Theatre) and you may sing from the score. Please bring headshot and resume and sheet music in the correct key. Please be prepared to learn a short dance combination.
