Broadway Grosses w/e 7/30/2017: This is getting boring.
I recently heard a quote from a story expert who said, “You know what people like? You know why they watch what they watch? Read what they read? Trouble. They like trouble.”
Well, this is going to be a boring ol‘ blog because there ain’t much trouble when you look at these boomin’ Broadway grosses this week.
In addition to all the usual suspects grossing their multi-millions, Kinky Boots posted almost a $1.6mm gross, Aladdin at almost $1.7mm, and Come From Away (remember when it was an underdog?) did over $1.3mm.
We’ve never had so many members of the million dollar club, which is why the gross is up over 20% on last year. The good news is that attendance is also up a whopping 6.9%.
But trouble-lovers, don’t you worry. September ain’t so far away. And I expect a few closing notices to be posted before then.
