WHO: KSSP – Casting Division
SEEKING: KSSP is an independent woman owned production company with a commitment to creating original plays and musicals with intentionally diverse casts. This play has and intimate cast of 6 Principals. Only those with musical theatre experience will be considered. (Think “A Chorus Line” meets “Company,” and more progressive than “Rent,” with humor.)
YOUNG WOMAN – 18, strong, mother recently passed away due to cancer, person of color, living with HIV, soprano.
LATINA WOMAN – late 30s, bisexual, curvy, former debating captain, former mortgage banker, recently graduated lawyer, alto.
CAUCASIAN MAN – late 30s, gay, masochist, works in entertainment, sarcastic to hide vulnerability, tenor.
ASIAN MALE – late 30s, Asian, gay, former hustler, now a therapist working with at-risk youth, living with HIV, tenor.
TRANSWOMAN – any ethnicity, late 30s, transsexual woman, former HS Athlete, Professor of queer theory, alto or tenor and baritone. (Preference for Transwoman and cis gendered male to play Transwoman.)
WHEN: All rehearsals are during the day for 3 weeks in May. Tech and Dress are in the day and evening. Performances are matinees and evenings. Rehearsals begin on May 16, 2012 and last performance is June 23, 2012, the day before the PRIDE PARADE in NYC 2012. Rehearsals and performances are in Manhattan. A Documentary is being filmed during production.
PAY: This production is Non-Equity and Non-SAG. Compensation for Actors is Contractual and includes, $750, Complimentary tickets, and a percentage of Documentary Net Profits. No Lodging or monies for travel are provided.
