We had the second ever online version of  “Get Your Show Off The Ground” last week, and as usual, fun was had by all.  We had an incredibly diverse bunch of projects presented, from a small cast jukebox musical to a play about bullying.

What is always fascinating to me is that no matter how diverse the projects are, the obstacles these projects and their producers/writers face are so similar.

That’s why I started sharing takeaways from the seminars, because no matter how unique your show is, I’m sure at least one of these will apply to you.

So here they are!  Enjoy!

• Shows were meant to be seen, not read.  Get your show on its feet if you want it to get better.
• The theater your show is in tells almost as much of a story as what’s on the stage.
• Readings need to be marketed too.  Just because you’re not selling seats doesn’t mean you won’t have to work to put butts in ’em.
• People travel in similar circles.  Hire an A-list person and other A-listers will follow.
• The best way to handle bad reviews is to ignore them.
