POSITION: Intern
DESCRIPTION: Telsey + Company is currently taking applications for fall interns! Our interns work directly with casting directors, associates and assistants on a variety of projects including Broadway, Off-Broadway, Television, Film, and Commercials.
Interns are exposed to many aspects of the casting process. Duties include filing submissions, putting out audition appointments, and helping coordinate and run sessions, in addition to administrative tasks. Interns also have the opportunity to sit in on casting sessions. You should be a detail-oriented team player with strong communication skills, and a sincere desire to learn.
There is a very high level of responsibility in this internship program. The internship itself is Monday-Friday, 10-6pm and is unpaid. The start date for the fall class is Sept 3, 2013 with an end date of Dec 20, 2013. Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Office, be comfortable with Mac computers and have the ability to multitask.
An intern will be assigned to each of the following departments: musicals, plays, film/TV, and commercials. Four additional interns that will act as “Floaters” and will have the opportunity to work with every department.
Commercial intern:
Interns will be exposed to all aspects of commercial casting including experience in the audition room. Duties include organizing scripts/commercial copy, researching potential talent, helping set up and run sessions, putting out appointments and assisting with administrative tasks.
We are looking for interns who are good with technology and have a strong desire to learn and an interest in commercial casting. Directing skills, along with knowledge of QuickTime Pro and Toast are a big plus. You should be a team player who is detail-oriented and displays communication skills.
Film/TV intern:
An interest in television and film a plus. Experience with technology a plus but not required. Recent films include The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Friends With Kids, Margin Call, Sex and the City 1 and 2. Recent television projects include Smash and The Big C.
Floater intern:
You will have the opportunity to work in every department based on office needs. This includes research, general administrative duties and working with the casting directors of all the departments. Willing to jump into any project and the ability to multitask is a big plus.
Musical intern:
Intern will work directly with casting staff. Musicals we cast present/past include: Broadway: Kinky Boots, Motown, Annie, Newsies, Spider-Man, Rock of Ages, Wicked, Jekyll & Hyde, Hands on a Hardbody, Evita, Elf, Chaplin, Bring It On, Porgy and Bess, Godspell, Sister Act, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Memphis, Leap of Faith, Bonnie & Clyde, The Addams Family, Baby It’s You, Catch Me If You Can, 9 to 5, South Pacific, Next to Normal, In The Heights, Legally Blonde, RENT and many more. Off-Broadway: Bare, RENT, Last Five Years in addition to many new readings and workshops.
Play intern:
Intern will work directly with casting directors on a variety of projects including casting for Atlantic Theater, MCC Theater, Signature Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Broadway and Off-Broadway.
Familiarity with and passion for contemporary playwrights and directors and the New York non-profit theaters is a plus.
Recent seasons have included work with authors and directors such as Ethan Coen, David Cromer, Kirsten Greenidge, John Guare, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, David Henry Hwang, Neil LaBute, Tina Landau, David Leveaux, Pamela MacKinnon, David Mamet, Neil Pepe, Adam Rapp, John Patrick Shanley, Leigh Silverman, Daniel Sullivan, Rebecca Taichman, Regina Taylor, Michael Wilson, Craig Wright, among many others.
