My mom tells me that the first time she ever felt me “kick” was when she saw Godspell back in 1972 at the Wilbur Theater in Boston.  Something about the theater and that show got me going.

That’s why I always said it was destiny that the first Broadway show I lead produced was the revival of Godspell in 2011.

It was one of the most amazing experiences of my personal and professional life . . . especially because of the incredible company that we assembled for that journey.

One of the first questions I asked Stephen Schwartz when I was coming up with the marketing plan for the show was “Can you tell me, from The Author’s Perspective, what is Godspell about?”

His answer . . .

Godspell is about a community of people coming together.

Since Stephen appeared on my livestream two weeks ago, I’ve been thinking about him, the message of that show and this crazy time we’re living in right now.

That’s when I said . . . well, we all know that during this CoronaCrisis we can’t “come together” like we usually would.

But that doesn’t stop theater people!  And it doesn’t stop Godspell.

That’s why, this Sunday, yes EASTER SUNDAY (it is Godspell after all), I’m reuniting the company of Godspell for a virtual reunion!
